It’s not new. It’s not fancy. But it is Clean!
Following on from the massive success of the Atari 2600 CleanComp, we focused our attention on a slightly less specific but ultimately useful universal composite board.
One problem with playing retro consoles today is that the video output standards have changed, and so it is very hard to find a TV or monitor that you can play your retro console on. Either they have RF, or they have composite that is way outside of the IRE voltage levels leading to very poor-quality composite video.
Enter the CleanComp Universal from Six. This internal hardware mod allows you to leave your console completely stock without the need to remove a single component, keeping your original console... well, original!
A few solder pads later, turning some dials, and an off-the-shelf RCA cable soldered to the CleanComp and you have yourself a fully composite or S-Video output from almost any retro console with RF or composite signals. It’s that easy.
Bypassing all of the component and RF modulation circuit on the console and instead tapping directly into the raw signal from the video chip then recomposing a new, clean composite signal with the correct gain, low pass filtering and impedance, you can be guaranteed the absolute best video signal quality from a stock console signal.
Supporting both PAL and NTSC consoles the CleanComp is the easiest and cleanest composite mod on the market.

- Active DC offset removal (no caps, clean op amp removal)
- Divide / Gain boost to tune the composite signal both up or down in amplitude
- Low pass filter for cleanup of noise on input
- Butterworth bandpass filter on output
- Optional anti-alias filter
- Dual composite output so you can have one to monitor, one to capture
