One of the common failures on the Genesis / Mega Drive is the video RAM wearing out over time causing bad or no video output.
This VRAM chip is a brand new chip and drop in replacement for the original 512kb (64 x 8-bit) VRAM (M54C864-80).
If doing a swap we recommend using our turned pin headers so you can socket the motherboard for easy future repairs.
